Stepping Stones

Our origins lye within a remote idyll in rural in South India where we began as three artists, drawn together through providence and shared ideals within Bharatha Sakthi Charitable Trust – BSCT is a self sustaining and ecologically based Trust with a school and orphanage providing free education to 750+ children alongside a range of educational, social, healthcare, water, agriculture, environmental and reforestation projects.

Soon-after integrating ourselves within BSCT, we created an art studio where we would paint and play music in our free time. From the first day we were greeted by hundreds of fascinated children peering in through the windows, enchanted by the relaxed and creative atmosphere.

2000 – THE CHILDREN OVERUN OUR STUDIO!

Unable to resist their curiosity, we began informal art classes during their free time, introducing them to the fun of drawing and painting. We have steadily built a rapport with the children and are constantly amazed at their ability, which somewhat reflects their inherent receptivity to the rich and colourful tapestry of their culture and surroundings. Overwhelmed by their enthusiasm and the daily tide of children we were soon unable to fit them all in our studio and realized the need for a more permanent solution to satiate their awakened creativity.

2003 – THE BIRTH OF “GANESH ARTS”

Over the years we observed how pioneering, veteran artists such as Souza, Raza, Mehta and Hussain, opened the doors to the worldwide recognition and receptivity for contemporary Indian art.

We befriended our artists from Pondicherry soon-after visiting their exhibitions in 2001 and prompted by their talent and potential and our own creative ambitions, Ganesh Arts was born. Our ideas gradually manifested as substantial collections of our most talented artists which we present here, within our website and catalogues. Confident in their talent, the receptivity of the market and despite our lack of experience we could not resist the challenge.

Our first series of exhibitions in Paris, Madrid and London were quite successful and prompted us to register Ganesh Arts Trust (for exhibitions) and L'Art des Possible (for donations) in France; and Ganesh Arts Limited (not for profit) in London. We are in the process of registering Ganesh Arts Trust and Ganesh Arts Limited in India.

We spend our time between the enjoyable process of collecting and exhibiting our artists paintings, providing art classes and exploring the many possibilities to develop; having fun with the art of 'right people, right place, right time'.

2007 – GANESH ARTS GALLERY

We exhibit in 21 Kensington Gallery on Kensington High Street and Gallery 118 Westbourne Grove, throughout the year and are working towards the eventual opening of Ganesh Arts Galleries in London and Pondicherry.

2009 – GANESH ARTS INDIA

We are now in the process of building our first Ganesh Arts College which will offer free Bachelor of Fine Arts Degrees to talented and interested children from disadvantaged backgrounds. We will provide art classes to all the children within Bharatha Sakthi Charitable Trust School during their free time and on weekends, gradually nurturing and developing potential talent and interest in the opportunities of a BFA Degree.

We will oversee the administration and running of Ganesh Arts College with the cooperation of our colleagues at Bharatha Sakthi Charitable Trust. Once established we will gradually develop classes in music, dance, theatre and various arts and crafts cottage industries.

2010 & ONWARDS

Alongside Ganesh Arts College in India we are in the process of establishing an Arts Centre in London. Exciting possibilities beckon...we hope that you will join us.
