From neighbouring villages, the creative affinity and inspiration shared by fellow artists Vasudevan, Sridar, Vengatesan and Tirounavacarassou is fascinating. Their inspiration gathered from their appreciation of the great Impressionists and by similar subject matter, naturally transposes upon the mood and atmosphere of Indian culture and the landscape.

Vasu has a particularly effortless and natural style and to watch him paint in a childlike and carefree manner is enchanting, though his work demonstrates an inherent and intuitive deft touch; belying any apparent lack of control.

Romantic yet innocent, Vasudevan’s vision is rich with intrigue into the mysterious customs and rituals of rural Tamil culture. Relatively uninterested with the phenomenal world and its representation, he surrenders to his infatuation with the dialogue between colour and beauty and the enthralling mystery it conjures.
