Drawn from his fascination with the terse depths of the Vedic and Tantric scriptures, Senthilnathan's interest and understanding of art, philosophy and mysticism demonstrates as analogous and allegorical portraits, mythical landscapes and diagrammatic prints.
Senthilnathan was especially inspired by his teacher, R. Sekar, artist Laxman Goud and William Blake; and within his Siddha series one can see a tribute of sorts, to the bearded, all knowing God of Blake’s ‘Ancient of days’. Like Blake, Senthil often merges the expressiveness of poetry within his own etched illustrations, reaching into the unknown and conveying that which the brush cannot tell.
Senthilnathan is a visionary who’s vivid imagination takes us on a magical, rhythmical journey, embodying the marriage of philosopher, metaphysician, artist and poet. |
