"I have known R. Sekar for the past twenty years, primarily as a student while I was Principal of the Government College of Arts and Crafts Madras. I instantly recognised Sekar to be a very talented artist, and admired the sincere effort and commitment he exerted over the years; it is no wonder that he has dedicated so many years to teaching and nurturing artists in Pondicherry.
I had the pleasure of observing Sekar’s studies and keen sense of understanding, as he drew his inspiration from nature and extensively explored human figures, birds and animals. His work is highly original and varied, and his dreamlike compositions carefully combine figures and animals with strong interconnecting lines and the play of light and colour.
