Ganesh Arts College Building will soon commence for our first Ganesh Arts College which will provide 18+ students free Bachelor of Fine Arts Degrees. We will incorporate a similar syllabus used in Bharathiar Palkalai Koodam, Pondicherry and Chennai and Kumbakonam College of Arts. Ganesh Arts College will provide all the children in Bharatha Sakthi Trust with voluntary art classes during their free time and on weekends, preparing those talented and interested for the possibilities of a BFA. India has a great and long standing arts heritage with many diverse lineages and regional cottage industries. Many of these are under threat due to the urbanization and commercialization of rural parts of India. Our goal is to pioneer new ground in contemporary art alongside sustaining the ancient and local traditions, such as Tanjavur Art, near to our trust in Tamil Nadu. Ganesh Arts aim to promote the arts as part of the national syllabus within all schools and develop a network of arts schools, colleges and foundations throughout India.
All profits and donations received by Ganesh Arts go towards financing our arts education programmes in India through Bharatha Sakthi Charitable Trust: A self sustaining environmental and ecologically based community (established 1989 in a village between Trichy and Madurai in Tamil Nadu, South India) with an orphanage, school and range of social, educational, healthcare, water, agriculture and reforestation projects. BSCT school provides around 750 poor or orphaned children free education (the children have consistently achieved the highest exam results in the district), food, accommodation and healthcare every year. We feel that in order to create sustainable grass roots rural development the local community must be at the heart of it. As such all Ganesh Arts College will be run and administrated by BSCT. We have worked on a range of social, reforestation, water and agricultural projects together with the BSCT over the last 12 years and have full confidence in their ability to run and administrate Ganesh Arts School.
